New Albany recently launched the city’s first public bicycle sharing program to encourage more employees to explore the city’s many amenities beyond its business park on a bike. Currently, there are ten bikes available for rent on a short-term basis, from 7 am to dusk daily, at the bike station near the southwest corner of New Albany-Condit Road and Walton Parkway in the New Albany International Business Park.
Riders can use the bikes by downloading the MOVATIC App on a smart phone. There is no charge to rent a bike, however, if the bike is not returned the credit card used will be charged the full replacement cost for the bike. Check the app first for bike availability as bikes may be in use or in maintenance mode. The program is sponsored by business park investors, Dream Industries. It grew out of recommendations from participants in Engage New Albany, the city’s latest strategic plan. Launching the bike share supports the city’s health & wellness and environmental sustainability community pillars. LEARN MORE
